Set Password...

The "Set Password..." command provides a tool to change the client password. Because there is one password per client, if more than one client company employee uses InView then it is the responsibility of whoever changes the password to inform the other users of the change. This tool should be used with caution and only with good reason, as the password only serves as a backup secutity measure. Because every InView version has a unique data encryption table and it is authorised to view only certain client databases at the server, it is perfectly fine to leave the password as its default value. If however there was a physical breach of security and the client's copy of InView may have been copied and stolen, then the change password facility can be used to block access to the database by the stolen copy of InView.

The "Set Password..." command brings up a fairly typical "Set Password..." dialog box, where the password must be entered twice before being accepted with a click of the OK or Apply buttons. In InVIew versions authorised to view more than one client database, it is possible to set the client name. Obviously, changing another client's password should be done only in extenuating circumstances.

Once the password has been changed, no one who does not know the new password will be able to log in. If you forget your password you can recover it by emailing grant.gussie@copyseis.com.
