Introduction

Welcome to the online help facility of the InView data management software.
Select the command you wish to know about by searching its menu location in the title bar buttons (above) or the navigation links (on the side).

Installation

The InView program is distributed as several files: the InView executable itself (the file with the ".exe" extension); and the associated dynamic link libraries (all with a ".dll" extension); as well as some font files required for proper printing.

The InView executable has the name InView (XXX Edition).exe, where XXX is the name of the client.

To install the program is only necessary to manually copy all of the InView files (".exe", ".dll", etc.) to the same directory on your computer’s hard disk, or the hard disk of an application server. No installation script is necessary or provided. To uninstall the program, simply delete those same InView files.

Editions

The InView program is produced in many different editions. Each Copyseis Ltd. client receives an edition specific to their own data. Client editions can not access data pertaining to any client except those clients for which it is specifically authorized.

Various editions have differing capabilities. There are three levels of capabilities available:
1) FTP Only (for clients that wish only to transfer files to and from Copyseis)
2) Standard (offering viewing, searching and ordering capababilities in addition to ftp)
3) Editing (allowing limited editing of the Copyseis database in addition to the standard capabilities)

Purpose

The InView program is a Windows application designed for the viewing, printing, and exporting of information in the Copyseis Ltd. database; the transfer of files to and from the Copyseis server; and the ordering of items from the Copyseis store house.

System Requirements

At least 128 Megabytes of RAM are recommended for its successful operation. The program must run under the Windows 2000, XP, or Vista operating systems. The computer must also have Internet access (without firewall restrictions) to the web site www.copyseis.com through port 80 (the standard Internet HTTP port number) and also through port 21 (the standard FTP port number). A SuperVGA monitor with 1158x864 resolution or better is also required. And for full use of all of the program's features, a printer and Microsoft Office 97 (or later) should also be installed on the computer.

General Operation

InView is a dialog-based application. While running, a modeless dialog box (the InView main window, above) is continuously open. The menus on the dialog box are used to select the tasks to be performed.

Getting Started

When the InView program is activated, the user is presented with a login window, as shown above.

To login, first enter your client (company) name in the client name entry box. If you are unclear what you're client name is, the InView executable contains it. For example the executable in the example above is "Inview (ABCD Oil And Gas Edition).exe". It is not strictly necessary to enter the whole name, just the first word or two (enough to uniquely identify yourselves) usually suffices.

Next, enter your password in the "Password" entry area. The default password for all clients is "InView" (not case sensitive). The use of a common password does however not constitute a security threat because each client receives a unique edition of InView, authorized to view only the proper client database(s). The fact that a competitor knows your password is of no use without the proper executable.

Once the Client name and password are entered, press the "OK" button, and after the Internet connection is made to the copyseis ltd. server, the operating window (below) appears.

Additional Support

InView is being upgraded and improved constantly, however you may encounter some problems. If so, please contact Grant Gussie, at email grant.gussie@copyseis.com or by phone at 250.537.9645 or 403.253.3425. He will make every attempt to solve the problem as quickly as possible.
